BlizzCon 2011 - Reflections

Well, another BlizzCon has come and gone, and this one has certainly been the most memorable yet for Blood Legion. Aside from the usual good food, great company, and general BlizzCon festivities, the 2011 edition of the event notably featured the announcement of the next expansion for World of Warcraft - Mists of Pandaria. Mists features the long-awaited introduction of the Pandaren race and their secluded island nation of Pandaria into Azeroth. Along with a new locale, the upcoming expansion will include many improvements to existing gameplay as well as exciting new features which promise to make WoW more compelling than ever.

Even more importantly, however, BlizzCon 2011 marked Blood Legion's debut in the Live Raid event. This year, Blizzard decided to break from traditional Live Raid format and pit us against Vodka in an epic showdown of Horde vs. Alliance to see who would be the first to conquer Heroic Firelands and ultimately vanquish the mighty Firelord, Ragnaros. The race through the zone proved to be hotly contested until the final confrontation with the Firelord himself, where Blood Legion's consistency and technical mastery allowed us to pull ahead and claim victory with a near-perfect Ragnaros kill. This hard-won triumph was one of the most exhilarating and satisfying we have ever achieved as a guild. The head-to-head competitive format appeared to be a big hit with the crowd, and we hope to see it return for future BlizzCons. Perhaps Blood Legion may even come back to defend our title... ?!

Update: We got a nice mention in the New York Times as well. Read it here !
